Project
Our Health Innovation Programme (HIP) is designed to help accelerate the progress of your innovation into the NHS. Helping you to get your product market ready and attractive to NHS customers and therefore more likely to be adopted into widespread use.
This programme is suitable for innovators from across the UK who have a health innovation that have a minimal viable product and have completed a level of proof-of-concept this could include pilot scale studies. Applicants can include clinicians, academics, SMEs, innovators and entrepreneurs.
This fully funded, free
to attend, four-day course is designed to help support you, the innovator, in
the development of your health innovation/product. We will be focusing on how
to navigate the complex landscape that is the NHS and healthcare in the UK,
including looking at how to find the right route to market that works for your
innovation. You will learn knowledge and skills to help you to understand and
explain the value of your proposition to NHS and health and social care
stakeholders.
Speakers from Health
Innovation Wessex (HIW) will be joined by experts from specialisms across the
health innovation landscape including regulation, commercialisation, research
and funding. This panel of speakers, with a wealth of experience between them,
will be sharing their knowledge and expertise from years of experience working
in the NHS, health innovation and project management arenas, to help guide you
and provide key resources that can support your journey from idea to
commercialisation.
Throughout the course
HIW staff will provide mentorship and 1-1 support to applicants, which can
continue after the programme.
Learning objectives
Delegates will:
· Learn how to identify
and understand the UK health and/or social care pathway their idea could be
used in (setting, market gap, user need)
· Clearly describe the
value proposition for their innovation, in a way recognisable to and validated
with users, payers and other stakeholders in its intended setting(s),
· Describe the existing
products, job roles, practices, pathways and culture in current place that the
innovation would need to impact with or displace, and changes to these that
would be required to achieve successful implementation and adoption.
· Map out the development
pathway, regulatory strategy and route(s) to market at scale in the UK,
including all critical-path stages, the requirements to pass these and related
stakeholders, and resources available to support this journey.
· Identify the relevant
stakeholders to engage with to ensure co-design and alignment with user and
system requirements and priorities.
· Identify and understand
the necessary evidence and other information required for development and
adoption, around safety, efficacy, regulatory approval, and impact in
real-world settings,
· Identify the
protectable intellectual property associated with the innovation and mechanisms
for protection and describe the reasons for protecting it.
Course structure
The course will consist of direct teaching sessions,
self-directed learning, collaborative workshops and networking opportunities.
The course will culminate with the delegates completing a market access
presentation to a guest panel of members from the health innovation sphere,
amalgamating all they have learnt throughout the course.
Applications
Applications will be
reviewed by a team from HIW, successful applicants will be contacted as soon as
possible. There will be a virtual 1-hour launch webinar for applicants to meet
the HIW team and fellow delegates prior to the start of the course in addition
