Experiencing poor mental health can cause distress and major disruption to an individual, their family, and friends. Estimates suggest that the cost of mental ill-health to the UK economy is £70–100 billion per year (Mental Health Foundation, 2016). However, there are opportunities to improve the provision of care and outcomes for people experiencing mental health difficulties by investing in prevention and proven interventions.

The Health Innovation Wessex Mental Health Programme:

Brings together expertise from commissioners, clinicians, service users, families, and local communities.
Supports local primary, secondary and third sector organisations to identify variation in outcomes and seek out opportunities for change.
Offers innovator support and evaluation expertise, enabling local organisations to test and evaluate what works, speeding up the spread of good practice.
Actively links with colleagues across the national AHSN Network to ensure we are part of a networked approach to the spread and adoption of innovation in mental health.
