Overview
The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care Board (HIOW ICB) pilot of the NHS Healthier Together Digital Application project was evaluated between October 2022 and March 2024. The app's primary function is to enable parents to access primary care, where necessary, for their children more easily by providing a user-friendly platform for assessing their child’s health and symptoms directing them to emergency services, GP services or to advice for self care. This report describes insights from qualitative data to provide learning for the stakeholders involved in delivering this project. Findings indicate the app's ability to provide a streamlined process for parents to access healthcare services through its triage system using the traffic light model (red, amber, green) and following use of the app, survey respondents were 8% less likely to attend ED, 1% more likely to attend primary care and 11% more likely to adopt a self-care approach compared to not having access to the app. Recruitment to the app was the through primary care practices to register parents and allow access to the practice via the app. However, there was wide variance across individual practices as to their success in engaging parents to register on the HT app in this pilot.
