Delivering innovation through collaboration: Health Innovation Wessex publishes 2024-25 impact report

17 July 2025

We're delighted to share the Health Innovation Wessex Impact Report for 2024–25, which highlights our collective achievements over the past year and demonstrates how we're already delivering innovation and growth to the government's priorities of embracing digital technology, focusing on preventative health and shifting more care into local settings.

In 2024–25, we continued to build our partnerships with healthcare providers, academia and industry to embed co-produced solutions to health challenges. We have introduced 12 innovations into new clinical settings, supported the development of nearly 300 innovations and provided almost 6500 hours of expert help to innovators, creating or safeguarding 63 jobs and contributing to regional and national economic growth.

Other key highlights from this year include:

  • Contributing to the national figures of nearly £500 million in additional investment and helping to create or safeguard 912 jobs as part of the Health Innovation Network
  • Engaging 1,800 professionals across health, academia, and industry through events and learning opportunities to enhance their skills and knowledge
  • Playing a national role in shaping innovation policy through the Innovation Ecosystem Programme and the 10 Year Plan Task and Finish Group, which have undoubtedly contributed to the positive citation for health innovation networks in the recently published Fit for the Future: NHS 10 Year Health Plan for England
  • Helping over 50,000 people at high risk or with suspected cancer through our cancer innovation programme, with new technology detecting 4,800 cancers – supported by our ongoing partnership with Wessex Cancer Alliance
  • Innovating in screening and diagnosis, and new pathways of care for women and girls to improve health equity
  • Advancing genomics education and research in collaboration with the Central and South Genomic Medicine Service Alliance, harnessing the region's centres of excellence to benefit patient care with personalised medicine and boost our regional economy.

These achievements are a testament to our expertise and embedded partnerships with the healthcare system, with innovators and industry, universities and the applied research infrastructure, and with Wessex Health Partners.
