Online event: Greener NHS: what suppliers need to know

4 March 2022

The NHS aims to be the world’s first net zero national health service and has stipulated that all its suppliers must meet or exceed the NHS commitment to net zero emissions by the end of the decade. If your business supplies the NHS, then from April 2022 you will have to demonstrate that your products and processes will match its net zero policy.

Wessex AHSN is hosting a free webinar on Wednesday 16 March to help suppliers understand the implications of the NHS Net Zero policy to reduce emissions and waste by 2040.

Dr Frank Ratcliff, Director of Industry and Innovation at Wessex AHSN, said:

“The NHS is committed to achieve net zero for the emissions it directly controls by 2040 and for emissions it can influence by 2045. The plan to achieve that starts now, with mandatory requirements in the coming year and subsequent years for companies wishing to remain on the NHS Supply Chain. Failing to prepare for these requirements could have a significant impact on your business.”

This webinar will provide an introduction specifically for companies supplying the NHS. Hear from experts on the Greener NHS policies and what is expected of suppliers, how NHS Supply Chain are implementing the policies, and a case study from a UK manufacturer who has been through the system.

Key speakers:

  • Dr Robert Hull, Research and Innovation Associate, Wessex AHSN
  • Mike Kenny, Associate Director of Enterprise and Growth, Innovation Agency North West Coast
  • Jonathan Day, Managing Director of Leanvation
  • Martin Toomey, Acting Co-Director of Enterprise and Growth - NHS Supply Chain
