AdviSeME Prize - Competition to find a transformative medical product

NICE Scientific Advice recently launched a competition, the NICE AdviSeME Prize, to find a transformative medical product in the early stages of development:

The NICE AdviSeME Prize is specifically aimed at SMEs, charities, and academic research groups. The winning applicant will receive a free Light Scientific Advice service which will: 

• Provide detailed feedback on the company’s evidence generation plans from a NICE perspective 
  
• Help to integrate cost-effectiveness considerations into the company’s evidence generation plans 
  
• Provide insights from NICE-appointed experts 
  
• Help the company to prepare for future NICE evaluations of their product 
  

Eligible Products:

• Medical device
  
• Medicinal product
  
• Diagnostic test or tool
  
• Healthcare app
  
• Cell therapy
  
• Gene therapy
  

Product Criteria:

Products should be in the clinical development phase, have the potential for further clinical development and:

• Target a patient population with a high unmet medical need
  
• Have clinical credibility

• Prolong survival
  
• Improve health-related quality of life
  
• Reduce use of healthcare resources
  
• Reduce costs
  
• Improve access to healthcare

2.Complete the application form.

3.Return the completed form to adviseme@nice.nhs.uk by 13 October 2017.

4.The expert panel will choose a winner. This will be announced in January 2018.
