Community pharmacists, pharmacy advocates and public health allies gathered at the Millennium Gloucester hotel on 30 June 2016 to celebrate The Pharmacist’s inaugural awards.
The awards toasted the ambitious forward-thinkers in independent community pharmacy and recognised those who lead from the front in the campaign to take on more services.
Linda Mace, UK Business Development & Sales Manager at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust, was thrilled to score the award for best over-the-counter (OTC) product with My Trusty Sunflower Cream.
“This is an absolute accolade for us because this product has been around for 30 years and we are the first NHS establishment in the UK that has commercialised its own product."
"The pharmacist’s role is really about education and showing people how to look after themselves and the products they have in their pharmacies will help them do that,” said Linda.
Wessex Academic Health Science Network (AHSN) has supported Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust and the My Trusty team to commercialise and expand the range, with consultancy provided to help increase brand reach across the UK through independent pharmacies, national supply chains and multinational retailers.
Wessex AHSN's Director for Wealth and Enterprise, Andy Burroughs, said, "Our relationship with the My Trusty team has proven the value of AHSN expertise in helping to drive economic growth in the NHS. This award is testament to the hard work and continuing innovation from all involved."
