Programme toolkits
This project is working across Wessex to support staff training, develop education resources for parents, and improve access to the correct equipment through NHS procurement. This project has now been independently evaluated and demonstrates significant improvement in mothers experience and level of comfort whilst expressing. Women reported expressing more milk in less time with a lower dependency on donor and formula milk. By receiving breastmilk, children benefit from improved long-term health. Maternal breastmilk has been shown to reduce the incidence of premature babies developing necrotising enterocolitis (source).
This toolkit should help you to implement a similar project in your own healthcare setting.
