Sue Faulds, who leads the undergraduate nurse training course at the University of Southampton, describes what nurses need to learn in order to become competent and functioning staff in MDTs.
She worries about an over reliance on technology (while confessing her personal love of it!) to the point where the obvious is missed. Knowledge and attitudes to gain competence need to be built into training programmes for staff in training. Telehealth and telecare will be part of the future nurse’s armoury and how they are applied is key to their success.
The session concludes with a summary of the points made during the group discussions.
