Alison Scannell

Programme Manager Patient Safety Maternity & Neonatal

Alison Scannell is a Patient Safety Programme Manager currently working within the Maternal and Neonatal workstream. She has worked in various senior clinical and educational roles and more recently as Maternity Matron for antenatal services. In addition to midwifery, Alison qualified at MSc level in Midwife Sonography, a role which has supported national priorities. She is a midwife with 25 years’ NHS experience working in the Wessex region.

Alison is working across the Maternal and Neonatal programme whilst taking the primary role in the development of the maternal and neonatal deterioration workstream. Alison has a portfolio of patient safety improvement projects; an honoured example was winning the Pride of Portsmouth Award for Best Improvement.

She is passionate about adding value and working collaboratively to improve clinical practices, communication, and staff wellbeing to achieve care-centred services for women, birthing people, and their families.
