This video introduces the aims of the Simulation Education Resources project, to optimise use of publicly funded simulation education resources in health services and develop common standards for their use.
This includes the means by which simulation resources can be shared at almost zero-cost. Phase 1 of the project is now complete including an audit of all the simulation education resources (particularly high-end and teaching resources) in the Wessex area. With the changes expected within Regional Strategic Health Authorities (SHA’s) it is vital to develop cross boundary education networks to support all learners across the Wessex area and beyond.
The Inhaler Technique Improvement Programme teaches healthcare staff and inhaler users an improved technique for taking metered dose medication and increasing the benefit of prescribed medication. Studies have shown that poor technique leads to most of the inhaled medication being swallowed instead of inhaled, lessening the effectiveness of the drug.
The Practice Leaders Programme, which is based in Portsmouth, develops leaders of service improvement delivering real benefits to patients.
Leaders who have the capability to deliver service improvement are much sought after at this time of structural change in the NHS; and it is widely recognised that the best way to develop the necessary skills is to be involved in implementing change and being supported during this work.
The PLP is now in the process of extending its reach with the opening of the programme for its fifth year to secondary care NHS staff in addition to those from primary and community care who have participated up to now. Why not join us?
