Paul Sulkers from IBM’s healthcare team in Canada is the thought leader behind the introduction of Business Process Management (BPM) at Ottawa Hospital. The hospital is one of the largest academic teaching hospitals in Canada with four campuses, 1200 beds and 12000 employees, serving 1.2 million people across eastern Ontario.
The hospital realised a few years ago that their traditional processes couldn’t keep pace with medical advances and increasingly complex health conditions, so together with IBM they developed an innovative approach to BPM that puts mobility at the centre of care.
You can see a case study and short video at http://www.ibm.com/mobilefirst/us/see-it-in-action/ottawa-hospital. The slides and 30-minute audio file available below are taken from a meeting with Paul and senior colleagues from Wessex AHSN, held at IBM Hursley in September 2014.
