I’m pleased to announce the release of our Wessex AHSN Annual Report 2014/15, which demonstrates the difference being made for patients and for the economy in Wessex. The report pulls together some of the stories about the work being undertaken by our teams across universities, healthcare and commissioning groups in Wessex.
This year we have helped thousands of patients get better, quicker treatment, through investing £3 million and working alongside hundreds of clinicians and industry partners to improve the health of patients and grow the economy in the Wessex region; I am proud to have worked with our member organisations, local partners and NHS England to achieve this.
Working with partners, spotting innovations, growing the economy, investing in better health and using our broad vision are all topics featured in the report as well as highlights such as:
• Our Respiratory programme and the ‘Mission severe Asthma’ pilot (Pages 4-5) improving experience and outcomes for people with asthma, we are already seeing positive changes with almost 2,000 patients receiving respiratory reviews, education and self-management plans.
• Substantial gains have been seen from our Bournemouth orthopaedics project (page 8) we at Wessex AHSN have supported the research institute through accelerator funds and the generation of over £4 million investment.
• Dementia Care (Pages 9-10) – supporting dementia friendly GP surgeries and the spread of good practice in hospitals.
We look forward to working with our organisations and other health, social care and industry as well as welcoming voluntary sector partners in the year ahead to build on our achievements so far and expand our accomplishments further.
Well done and thank you to all of the Wessex AHSN team and those involved in our programmes.
