Serving a diverse population of 3 million people in a region that spends circa £10bn per annum on health and care services, Wessex Health Partners (WHP) is a new pan-regional partnership of universities and NHS organisations across Dorset, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, with a common purpose: “A partnership that learns together and accelerates improvements in health and social care through innovation, research and training, for the benefit of patients and wider society”. Bringing together three universities, two integrated care systems, seven provider trusts and Wessex Academic Health Science Network, our ambition is to collectively tackle the greatest challenges facing the Wessex health and care system, and to generate greater collaborative and interdisciplinary research and the faster development and adoption of innovation at scale.
We hope that WHP will have created a place where research and innovation can connect with the development and adoption of innovations so that health and care is transformed, and outcomes improved. WHP will have enabled new ways of working to be adopted faster across Wessex, rather than confined to a particular part of the region. It will enable a greater and more deliberate connection between the health and care challenges and opportunities in HIOW and Dorset with research and innovation across Wessex.
The Opportunity
WHP has a vision to become a designated Academic Health Science Centre (AHSC) and we are seeking to appoint a new Managing Director to support a new Chair and to lead the newly formed Wessex Health Partners towards this designation. As a new Managing Director you will play an integral role in setting up the new partnership, enabling strong inter-agency, interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral working, building strong partnerships across the region and identifying strategic opportunities in research, innovation, education, and translation that will have a tangible impact on improving pathways of care for people in Wessex.
