Wessex AHSN has today - Tuesday, 10 November - won a prestigious national HSJ Patient Safety award.
Along with colleagues at West Hampshire CCG, the AHSN won for its RESTORE2 project; right care, right place, right time for care home residents.
The work won in the 'Deteriorating Patients and Rapid Response Systems Award' category. The winners of the awards were announced in a special virtual ceremony, as part of the 2020 Patient Safety Congress.
The judges thought: this was a very ambitious and valuable project with clear objectives that have been achieved. The team have demonstrated an evident and clear spread through the community settings in order to identify deteriorating patients.
The RESTORE tool is an excellent resource, with clear and very useful contents supported by educational resources. This complex project with lot of interventions has demonstrated excellent value, and is likely to have significant benefits to tens of thousands of people in terms of personalisation of care, process and outcome improvements going forward.
This work previously won a Parlimentary Award in July 2019; and a HSJ Value Award in September 2020.
We we also shortlisted with colleagues from Portsmouth University Hospitals NHS Trust - as the Time to ACT Project Team - for Patient Safety Team of the Year. PRIMIS at the University of Nottingham and the AHSN Network - aka The PINCER Team - were also shortlisted in the same category.
