Wessex AHSN is pleased to announce the publication of a short report on the evaluation of how people feel when they experience new models of care.
The report has been produced in partnership with R-Outcomes and the Wessex AHSN Centre for Implementation Science (based at the University of Southampton) and responds to local evaluation guidance, published by NHS England in June 2017, that calls for a strengthened focus on capturing and evaluating patient and residents’ experience of transformed services.
As independent evaluator for three Vanguards in Wessex and several other new care models we have drawn on our experience of completing around 15 evaluations to bring together a description of our mixed methods approach, how our findings have been used by our clients and our reflections on the challenges and benefits of evaluating patient and staff experiences.
This report is intended to be of interest to anyone planning or undertaking evaluation in health or social care. We would welcome any feedback or an opportunity to discuss the challenges raised as we continue to refine our approach in this area.
