AHSN shortlisted for several national awards

Projects we run or support are shortlisted for prestigious national Patient Safety Awards. You can see the full shortlist here.

The Serenity Integrated Mentoring (SIM) project, run by Hampshire Constabulary and the Isle of Wight NHS Trust, and supported by us, is shortlisted in the Managing Long Term Conditions category. SIM - which previously won a Royally-endorsed national health award, is also one of this year’s NHS England National Innovation Accelerator Fellows.

Our medicines optimisation work has also been very successful. Our Implementing Self Administration of Insulin in Hospital and Magnesium Sulfate injection projects are shortlisted in the Improving Safety in Medicines Management category; and our 'Detect, Protect, Perfect' project to tackle Atrial Fibrillation is shortlisted in the Managing Long Term Conditions category.

Our Patient Safety team, along with colleagues from KSS and West of England AHSNs and local trusts, is also shortlisted as the The Emergency Laparotomy Collaborative, in the Patient Safety in Surgical Care category.

Colleagues across all projects will now present to a judging panel in May, with the awards ceremony following in July as part of the national Patient Safety Congress event in Manchester.  

And it's not just our work which is being recognised. The dedication of AHSN staff is also under the spotlight, with Associate Director for Wealth and Enterprise, Rachel Dominey, named in Global Health & Pharma magazine's Executive Awards 2017. 

The awards honour those who work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure that demands are met on time and to an impeccable level. In an industry that is ever-changing, these individuals have displayed great passion, achieved remarkable results and shown true dedication to their area of practice in the healthcare industry.
