Over 50% of surgeries in Wessex are on a journey to become Dementia Friendly, supported by the Wessex Academic Health Science Network based at the University of Southampton Science Park.
Farnham Dene surgery in Farnham recently became the 50th surgery to complete its accreditation. All three surgeries based at Farnham Centre for Health are now Dementia Friendly.
Claire Giles, assistant practice manager, said: "Becoming a Dementia Friendly practice has been an enjoyable and informative process, with support from Katherine Barbour throughout. Staff felt the dementia training provided was very useful and we have improved our support for people living with dementia, with a complete review for the patient. This also offers support to carers and provides information on local services as well as treating the patient’s needs. We look forward to helping our patients with dementia get the very best support from our practice.”
