5 July 2016
On the evening of 4th July, staff, patients and families, along with special guests including the Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane, and the Mayor of Winchester, met in the beautiful venue of Froyle Park, near Alton, to celebrate the individuals and teams who had been nominated for Hampshire Hospitals Director of Nursing Awards - Celebrating Compassionate Care.
Following a champagne reception, the programme began with an inspirational talk by Mandy Hickson, ex-fighter pilot, now working as a Human Factors facilitator with the Civil Aviation Authority. Mandy's themes included belief in oneself, not being content with the status quo, striving for excellence, and good teamwork - Together Everyone Achieves More.
Nominations were then read out, and the winners were presented with awards in the following categories: Surgical Services, Medical Services, Family and Clinical Support Services, and Allied Health Professions.
The team nominated by Wessex AHSN's Senior Programme Manager for the dementia workstream, Katherine Barbour, was successful in the Rotary Club Awards, winning the Team Award for their innovative work in acute dementia care. Rachel Hayden, who leads the Dementia Nursing Team, was presented with their award by representatives from the Rotary Club of Winchester.
Photographs were taken throughout the evening, and are available on the Hampshire Hospitals website.
