We’re delighted to announce that our work with Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust to improve the care and safety of patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) has won the Improving Safety in Medicines Management category at the national Patient Safety Awards.
MISSION COPD (Modern Innovative Solutions to Improve Outcomes in COPD) combines the expertise of primary and secondary care to improve patients' symptom control and quality of life, reducing the need for unplanned care and emergency admissions. The project was deemed the worthy winner of the award by the judging panel, who said;
"This was an impressive project which demonstrated clear evidence based outcomes. The project demonstrated how improving safety in medicines management works alongside broader initiative to provide a system approach to improving health outcomes.”
Wessex AHSN was also shortlisted with Portsmouth Hospitals Trust twice in the Managing Long-Term Conditions category, and once for Improving Safety in Primary Care. The awards were presented at a ceremony at the Patient Safety Congress in Manchester on Tuesday, 5 July.
Congratulations to our respiratory programme teams and partners; we're proud that your hard work, innovation and patient-centred approach has been recognised by this prestigious accolade.
