AHSN announces its support for the Nucleus Expo Hampshire 2016

Today - 23 June - we have unveiled the four MedTech start-ups that will be exhibiting under our banner at Nucleus Expo Hampshire 2016.

 HiveWire, EasyVideo, Fourth State Medicine and xim were chosen to have the opportunity to showcase their innovations at the event, which takes place at the University of Southampton Science Park on Wednesday 21st September.

Andy Burroughs, director of wealth and enterprise at Wessex AHSN, said: “We are very pleased to be a sponsoring partner for Nucleus this year. Our input will enable four fledgling businesses that we regard as having incredible potential to showcase their work and to access a valuable network of the region’s innovators, academics, investors and businesses leaders. We see our role as helping to promote and support the exciting advances that we are seeing in the MedTech arena here in the South. We will also be hosting a workshop where we will detail how companies can work with us and the wider AHSN network – all are welcome.”

The four businesses selected by the AHSN to comprise their exhibition zone are:

Fourth State Medicine. This company has developed a revolutionary platform technology to deliver the tools that surgeons want in today’s operating theatres. Using innovative techniques inspired from the cutting edge of space technology, the device can be used in aesthetic surgery for wrinkle reduction or to eradicate resistant bacteria such as MRSA. A cascade of products is being developed to address these markets over the next five years.

HiveWire. This company has created a secure messaging app for all frontline hospital staff. It aims to improve patient care by reducing communication errors and free-up staff time by facilitating instant communications within and between hospitals. The company will be conducting live demos from their exhibitor space.

EasyVideo. This company enables adults with Learning Disabilities to scan household items with a smart device and it plays a video of how to use it; improving independence and the quality of care delivered.

Xim. A Science Park Catalyst graduate, xim has developed a range of digital solutions aimed at enabling the UK’s ageing population to continue to live safely in their own homes rather than going into residential care. Low cost and discreet, the company’s product suite will enhance patients’ and their relatives’ wellbeing, while reducing risk and cost for health providers.
