13 June 2016
Bournemouth University is holding a number of free events in psychiatric genetic counselling during June and July 2016. Workshops are targeted at genetic counsellors, perinatal staff and psychiatrists.
Psychiatric genetic counselling helps people to better understand what we know from research about the causes of psychiatric disorders, and about how genes and environment can work together to contribute to the development of these conditions. It provides support and counselling to people to address any guilt, shame or stigma that they might be feeling in relation to these issues, and counsellors can also help people to create their own strategies to protect their future mental health.
