This report evaluates the impact on early career GPs of the NGGPP and whether it facilitated plans for portfolio development and other opportunities to progress their careers.
NGGPP attendee respondents obtained valuable learning and were generally positive about the experience. There was a focus in the interviews on the different increasing pressures in the primary care system and the reality of protecting time for career progression. GP respondents discussed how they should respond positively to available opportunities and some gained confidence from the programme speakers. Overall, there was a clear message for support systems such as networking with peers and finding mentors to support leadership goals.
